Conditions We Evaluate

Why Choose OPTCI for Musculoskeletal Ultrasound?

Most imaging centers simply perform the scan and send a report days later—leaving you waiting and still guessing what to do next.

At OPTCI, your Doctor of Physical Therapy (RMSK-certified, Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist—OCS) performs and interprets your musculoskeletal ultrasound, walks you through what the images mean, and uses those findings to guide your treatment plan—all during the same appointment (when appropriate).

That means your results immediately translate into a clear, personalized next step, and treatment can often begin during the same visit.

What Happens During Your Visit?

  • Clinical Assessment: We discuss your symptoms, injury history, and movement limitations.

  • Ultrasound Imaging: We perform a live scan of the affected area.

  • Review Together: You'll see your images and understand what's causing your pain.

  • Recovery Plan: Receive personalized recommendations for treatment and rehabilitation.

Testimonials

Nancy H

I love this practice and the care I have received! Winnie has been amazing applying her skills at dry needling, scraping, and manual manipulated to get my hips to stretch and open up more with each visit. Her help has improved my ability to walk and get back to my normal exercise routines. I am very grateful to her and her husband for their expertise and treatments.

Lynn C

Dr. Julius performed a diagnostic ultrasound on my shoulder and monitored my flexibility. He was very professional and gave clear explanations along with exercises to help with healing and flexibility.

Have Questions? Look Here

Is musculoskeletal ultrasound painful?

Not at all. Musculoskeletal ultrasound is completely non-invasive and painless. A small handheld probe is moved over the area of concern using ultrasound gel to create real-time images of your muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints.

How long does the appointment take?

Most appointments take 30 to 45 minutes. During your visit, we'll review your symptoms, perform the ultrasound scan, explain the findings, and discuss the best next steps for your recovery.

Will I get my results during the appointment?

Yes. One of the biggest advantages of musculoskeletal ultrasound is that the images are available immediately. We'll review the findings with you during your appointment so you leave with a better understanding of what's causing your pain.

Is ultrasound better than an MRI?

Each imaging method has its strengths. Musculoskeletal ultrasound is excellent for evaluating many tendon, ligament, muscle, and soft tissue injuries in real time while you move. MRI may still be recommended for certain conditions, especially if deeper structures or surgical planning need to be evaluated. If an MRI is necessary, we'll explain why and help guide your next steps.

What conditions can you evaluate?

We commonly assess:

Rotator cuff injuries

Achilles tendinitis

Plantar fasciitis

Patellar tendinitis

Tennis and golfer's elbow

IT band syndrome

Hamstring strains

Hip bursitis

Meniscus injuries

Ligament injuries (MCL/LCL)

Biceps tendinitis

Many other muscle, tendon, and ligament conditions

Can I receive treatment on the same day?

Absolutely. If appropriate, we can often begin treatment immediately after your evaluation. Because we can see the injured tissue in real time, we can recommend the most effective treatment plan without unnecessary delays.
